Movie: Avatar

Well I popped over to the cinema today to watch Avator.

As I queued up to purchase a ticket I noticed that there were two versions of the movie shown
(2D and 3D versions). I expected the ticket price would be the same, but I was wrong.
The 3D version of the film would have cost me £9.40 to watch !!!!

I thought I had heard the cashier incorrectly when he told me the ticket price but you had to pay
extra because it was a 3D movie and you also had to buy a pair of 3D glasses.

I felt that at almost £10 a ticket was way too expensive to see any movie regardless of how groundbreaking it
was. I also felt that the most important aspect of a movie is the storyline, not some gimikey 3D.

So I went to see the 2D version.... The film had many themes going through it.
There was an evironmentalist theme, when it was portraying mankind as a destroyer of nature, robbing the
earth of its natural resources and leaving destruction whereever he goes.
There also seemed to be an anti-American theme (or anti-war), where the American military was seen as a bunch
of arrogant jocks that take over territories that don't belong to them and force the natives out.
(another parallel is the cowboys taking over most of America from the native Indians).

The computer animation was very well done (but I thought Final Fantasy : Spirits Within was better) but did not
find the movie as groundbreaking as mention by the film publicity.
I would say that the movie was good but not a must see. I would give the movie 7/10
